Runs public workshops / open houses and forums for the benefit of water suppliers, agencies, consultants and the general public. These events offer information and guidance on potable water issues such as maintaining a healthy well, harvesting of rainwater for gardens or drinking, water conservation and discussions addressing algal blooms, and the toxins they create, and other contaminants in our drinking water lakes. Salt Spring Island residents benefit from receiving information to help them deal with issues affecting their wells and other drinking water sources, and how to protect their environment in order to preserve the island’s precious potable water supply. Participants also receive information to help them determine the best rainwater harvesting and drip water systems for their needs and boost the island’s water conservation at the same time. Offering open houses with displays from local suppliers benefits the community by promoting business on the island.
