This program wrapped up on August 15, 2016.
SSI Water Council in partnership with the Capital Regional District is pleased to have brought you the 2016 Rainwater Harvesting Rebate program.
Rainwater harvesting is the practice of collecting and storing rainwater for future use. At a minimum, rainwater harvesting systems are comprised of a catchment area, a conveyance system, and a storage tank. Systems can also include a pump, filters and fixtures to facilitate the use of the stored water.
This program offered rebates for 25% of the cost of purchasing and/or installing rainwater harvesting equipment to a maximum rebate of $62.50 (i.e. 25% of $250 in receipts) per Salt Spring Island household as long as funds lasted on a first come, first served basis. In order to receive a rebate, applicants were required to send copies of receipts for equipment purchases and/or installation dated after November 1, 2015 and a photo of the installed rainwater harvesting system, along with the completed application form.
The final rebate cheques will be mailed the week of August 22.
